Same-Day Urgent Care Appointments
What is an Urgent Care Appointment?
An Urgent Care appointment is an appointment for situations you didn’t plan on, where your fur baby—your dog or cat—needs to be seen that day. Evendale-Blue Ash Pet Hospital has set aside a certain number of appointments every day for that particular need.
When Should You Come for an Urgent Care Appointment?
Urgent care appointments are perfect for non-life-threatening conditions that your pet may experience:
- A minor wound that needs sutures
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Ear infections
- Any eye emergency or problem, such as discharge or squinting
- Coughing
- A hot spot where your pet can’t stop licking, causing self-trauma
- Limping after playing outside
- Urinary accidents / frequent urination
- Coughing
- Allergies (itching, licking, scratching)
- Broken toenail
- Scooting
- Decreased appetite
- If your pet quits eating altogether and can’t keep any food or water down
In these situations, you don’t want to wait for a regular appointment that’s a week away. You want to call us so we can get them in and care for them.

What are Examples of True Pet Emergencies?
Examples of true emergencies, where you need to seek attention even before our Urgent Care appointment is available, include:
- Hives all over the body
- Difficulty breathing
- Inability to keep anything down, constantly bringing food or water up
- Inability to urinate, such as a cat going in and out of the litter box, straining, and meowing or howling
- Sudden collapse
- Swelling or difficulty breathing
- If they’ve eaten something they shouldn’t have
- Significant wounds
In such cases, if we're open, call us. Our staff is wonderful and will guide you on what to do, whether to bring your pet directly over or if the emergency facility is closer, we might advise you to go there for immediate medical attention because we’re farther away.
